Riding Scheme | Prestwold Hall |
Prestwold Hall, today the home
of Edward & Juliet
Packe-Drury-Lowe, has been owned by the
Packe family for 350 years. The Hall and estate
provide the perfect venue for conferences, meetings, dinners, weddings
and activity days, and present a stunning backdrop for films,
television and photo shoots.
For many years the Packe family very generously sponsored the Prestwold Estate Riding Scheme (PERS) on a membership basis, and at the cost of a small nominal annual charitable donation, but today open public access is available under the Higher Level Stewardship scheme which has provided permissive access for 10 years (baring closure for up to 10 days per year) to walkers, riders and cyclists. Six A4 maps of the scheme can be viewed on the Natural England website, which detail the network of approximately 16 miles of private and public bridle paths over the grounds and lands of the estate. The network provides several circular and linear routes over the estate which link up with public bridleways to give stunning views over the Leicestershire countryside. .
